Mentoring for Singing Teachers

Are you a new teacher, or a more experienced tutor looking to re-focus your skills and techniques?

Are you a new singing teacher or thinking of moving from singing to teaching? Do you wish that you had the clear support and guidance to help you to make a good start?  Perhaps you doubt your level of knowledge or ability to help your students to progress. You may even worry about how to attract students and run a singing studio in the first place.
The good news is, I can help.  You can:
  • Evaluate your teaching and get expert advice from an experienced teacher on how to move forwards in your practice.
  • Have guidance on running your studio and working successfully with your students.
  • Develop your knowledge of the fundamentals of how voices work.
  • Build a useful terminology and be able to relate this to your own practice.
  • Improve your looking and listening skills so that you can help your students and unravel what they really need.
  • Receive 1-1 mentoring, and join a private group to ask questions and share ideas with other teachers.
  • Take part in a workshop to practise your teaching skills.
All of this is included in Teachers’ Toolkit, a unique online mentoring programme for new singing teachers. Why not get in touch to chat and find out more?

If you are an experienced teacher, flexible one-to-one mentoring schemes are available on an annual or six-monthly basis.

For more details please do contact me and we can arrange a chat. I specialise in troubleshooting the problems singing teachers and their pupils may have. I can help build technique, helping teachers to meet the challenges of running their own business and reach their full potential. My VocAL Intuition studio is in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, within easy reach of all major Midlands towns and cities, for teachers looking for one-to-one help in person*. We can also work online on Zoom.

*Currently all sessions are online due to Covid-19

Teaching under the VocAL Intuition brand, following my training and mentoring, are Rachel Shaw and Heather Gallagher.

Rachel Shaw

Rachel has experience of singing in both classical and contemporary styles, including pop and musical theatre. She has a particular interest in teaching younger students to sing healthily, whilst making lessons accessible and fun. Her Biology background has been useful to her understanding of vocal physiology and function, especially with regard to developing voices. As a musician she has a good knowledge base and teaches musical theory as well as practical singing, aural and sight -reading.
Rachel runs a successful private practice at her home studio in Church Gresley. She takes on students of all ages and abilities who have an interest in Classical singing, Musical Theatre or Popular Music vocals. She is also a singing teacher in Staffordshire and Derbyshire schools and has an accreditation with the South Derbyshire Music Partnership.

Heather Gallagher

Heather is an experienced singer, actor and dancer and has performed both locally and nationally.
Heather studied singing with Anne Leatherland to diploma level (Musical Theatre) and continues to be mentored through VocAL intuition. She has also received training from Dr Gillyanne Kayes and Jeremy Fisher of Vocal Process.
Heather now teaches students of all ages and experience, in studios in Burton on Trent and Ashby de la Zouch. Her specialism is in Musical Theatre and students are given many performance opportunities, including singing examinations and competitive vocal festivals. Heather’s focus is on integrating acting with song for a complete performance.

Heather is the Principal of Stage Screen, a successful Saturday school in Burton for the training of young people in singing, acting and film work. It is the first of its kind in the area.
